Fall Academy Sessions
Every athlete should diversify their potential by being active and involved throughout the year in a variety of sports and academic endeavors. Lacrosse Academy is an environment that offers active athletes the opportunity to keep a stick in their hand, while also being involved in other sports and/or other extra-curricular activities that may peak during the Fall. Our program endorses the multi-sport athlete, believes in the athlete developmental model, the natural progression of physical and mental growth patterns for children in the age group we work with, and the cross-training benefits that other Fall sports provide for our players.
Academy is our fall program for players interested in sharpening skills to prepare for spring season and a time where new players can come and learn the basic skills associated with the game. The academy sessions are small group, fee-based lessons offered for any child wanting more detailed instruction or more personalized skill development. Southern Elite Lacrosse emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play, honor and respect for the game. Our coaching staff teaches the "FUN"damentals of the game through positive coaching and proactive leadership. Our program focuses on development of every athlete regardless of skill level.
Southern Elite Lacrosse emphasizes integrity and committment. We focus on player accountability and team progress. Southern Elite fosters unity and develops players by correlating life lessons to challenges experienced on the field. We hold our parents to high standards of fostering an environment for player growth, by letting go just enough to enable each player to learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and experience bravery in a new zone. We hold our players to standards of being brave enough to stand out with leadership, instead of needing to fit in. It is in these values our players grow not only as individuals but as a TEAM.
Registration for Fall Academy begins September 1, 2019
Frequently asked questions:
Are there games during Academy?
The fall academy focuses strictly on player development. Initially the players will only participate in fundamental skill development necessary for learning the game. As the fall academy progresses, the players will have the opportunity to showcase their new skills in a scrimmage during the practice sessions. All sessions are age appropriate and provide synergy among experienced and non-experienced players to create a positive environment for learning. There are no scheduled "games" during the fall season. The primary focus is fun and fundamentals.
What age groups are eligible for registration?
Southern Elite Lacrosse is dedicated to growing the game of lacrosse in the off season. The fall academy is available to any player regardless of skill level for players as young as 8 years old and any player through grade 12. Since our program does not participate in games, the season registration is open to any player wishing to develop skills as a new player or an elite player wanting to continue to improve their game.
What gear is needed for fall academy?
Each player should be prepared with a full set of protective gear (helmet, chest protecter/shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, protective cup, mouthguard and lacrosse stick). Additional resources can be found on the US Lacrosse website https://www.uslacrosse.org/safety/equipment
Southern Elite will have loaner gear available but will be issued on a first come, first serve basis for a nominal fee through a reserved appointment time. Distribution of equipment will only be available to participants that are fully paid, registered and have current US Lacrosse registration completed.
